UNIQUELY HIS- Part 1- Day-4

Attributes are praise worthy characteristics of a Person, but there are certain attributes that God alone possesses. Man is called to have some of Gods characteristics- the communicable ones, but those that man can’t partake in, are the incommunicable attributes of God.

Aseity- God is Self-existence

God is described as the “self-existent One” because He has always existed and does not owe His existence to anyone or anything. God’s existence isn’t a formulation by anyone.

God exists entirely by himself, He was, still Present and self-sufficient till eternity in complete fellowship, knowledge, happiness and love. God is the uncaused cause of creation, owning everything and needing nothing. Him being life, owning life and giving life to all things.

He doesn’t necessarily need creation for anything, yet creation is important to Him, and can glorify and bring Him joy (Isaiah 62:3-5)

“yet for us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we for Him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and through whom we live.”I Corinthians 8:6 NKJV
“Most assuredly, I say to you, the hour is coming, and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God; and those who hear will live.”John 5:25 NKJV

The self-sufficiency of God

His state of complete independence and autonomy, Signifies that God exists in a state of absolute perfection, lacking nothing and needing nothing outside of Himself to sustain His being or fulfill His purposes. As the Creator of the universe and all that it contains, God is the source of all life, power, and existence. He is not dependent on anyone or anything for His continued existence or well-being. Unlike human beings, who rely on various external factors for sustenance, God is entirely self-sustaining.

He is not bound by the limitations of time, space, or any external influences.

The self-sufficiency of God also extends to His wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. God’s omniscience allows Him to know all things, past, present, and future, without the need for external sources of information.

God’s self-sufficiency is seen in His ability to accomplish His divine purposes without relying on human effort or resources. He is not constrained by any limitations and is capable of fulfilling His plans through His infinite power and sovereignty.

This reminds us that God is not limited by anything and is entirely self-reliant, which adds to His greatness and unmatched authority.

Immutability- God is unchanging

God is constant, consistent, and remains the same throughout all of time and eternity. He is not subject to change in His character, purpose, or essence.

Unlike human beings and the created world, which are subject to change and impermanence, God’s nature is eternally fixed. His divine attributes, such as His love, holiness, wisdom, and justice, are unchanging and unwavering. He does not grow or improve, nor does He diminish or deteriorate. God is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8).

The concept of God’s unchanging nature is expressed in various passages in the Bible. For instance, in Malachi 3:6, God declares, “I the LORD do not change. So you, the descendants of Jacob, are not destroyed.” This assurance underscores His faithfulness to His covenant promises

“And: “You, Lord, in the beginning laid the foundation of the earth, And the heavens are the work of Your hands. They will perish, but You remain; And they will all grow old like a garment; Like a cloak You will fold them up, And they will be changed. But You are the same, And Your years will not fail.””Hebrews 1:10-12 NKJV

The immutability of God is significant for several reasons:

Reliability: God’s unchanging nature makes Him completely reliable and trustworthy. We can depend on Him to fulfill His promises and remain steadfast in His love and grace.

Consistency: God’s unchanging character provides a stable foundation for our lives. His moral standards do not fluctuate, giving us a reliable moral compass to guide us.

Assurance: The fact that God does not change reassures us that His love and care for His creation are constant. We can find comfort in His consistency amidst the uncertainties of life.

Worship: Understanding God’s immutability inspires awe and reverence in worship. His eternal nature reminds us of His greatness and transcendence.

While God’s nature is unchanging, it’s important to note that His actions and responses to humanity may vary based on our choices and circumstances. God interacts with His creation in a dynamic way while remaining steadfast in His attributes and character.

The nature of God assures us of His faithfulness, provision of a firm foundation for our lives, and invitation to worship an eternal and unwavering, One who is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He is the way He is, because “He is who He is” for His Essence and His Purpose.
